Adrian Farnham was appointed chief operating officer of LME Clear, the post-trade division of the London Metal Exchange (LME), on November 14, 2012. He was previously chief executive of the London Stock Exchange's equities and derivatives platform Turquoise.[1][2] He will take up his role at the LME in early 2013, reporting to Trevor Spanner.[3]

Background

Farnham joined Turquoise in 2007 as chief operating officer and was instrumental in launching that platform, which was one of a slew of new operators designed to bring competition to European cash equities trading. Turquoise was acquired by the LSE in February 2010 and Farnham was promoted to chief executive.

He joined Turquoise from Morgan Stanley, which was one of Turquoise's early investors. He worked at Morgan Stanley for 13 years in various roles in product development. Before that he ran the bank's operational teams in derivatives, commodities and cash equities.
