Anil Kumar Mishra is the chief executive officer of National Multi-Commodity Exchange of India. He was the first person to hold that role after the exchange was created in 2008. Under his leadership, new commodities like coffee and cotton were introduced, 20 commodities were activated, and evening sessions were started. He also introduced auction-based forward contracts in rubber. [1][2][3][4][5]


Mishra began his career in 1986 as the zonal manager for Indo Gulf Fertilizers before moving on to be a divisional general manager for Grasim industries in 1992. He held the post until 1996, when he joined Cargill.[6]

In 1996, he began an 11 year stint as the Country head for the large multinational corporations Cargill and Ecom Agro. In 2003, while at Ecom Agro, Mishra was awarded the Bhartiya Udyog Ratna award by the Indian Economic Development & Research Association for his work. In 2006, he was awarded the Best Coffee exporter award by the Coffee board of India. [7][8]


Mishra earned a bachelors degree in Agriculture from Ranchi Agri College in 1979. He further earned a masters degree in Agricultural Economics from R.A.U. Pusa in 1980 and a masters degree in sociology from Rohikhand University in 1985. He earned a diploma in Business Management from AIMA in 1986.[9][10]
