HC Technologies, LLC is a Chicago-based trading firm founded by Joseph Niciforo and Charles Carey.[1][2]

The firm engages in algorithmic proprietary trading via a proprietary technology platform with varied investment approaches in diverse asset classes.

HC Technologies has partnered with LaunchPad Trading, LLC in a joint venture with Tudor Investment Corporation. The venture invests proprietary capital in early career portfolio managers across derivatives markets globally. The joint venture "could put as much as $200 million in the hands of 20 traders over the next two years, Crain's Chicago Business reported in 2015.[3][4]


Founded in 2007 by Niciforo and Carey, the firm was formerly known as Henning Carey Proprietary Trading, LLC.

In 2017, HC Technologies launched a private equity arm, HC Private Investments, to invest in middle market manufacturing companies.[5]

Products and Services

HC Technologies provides capital and infrastructure to in-house trading teams who are active traders of financial instruments.

HC Technologies has offices in Chicago, New York and London.

Key People

Carey is a longtime CBOT member who served as chairman prior to the exchanges merger with the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Nicoforo is a former Tudor partner who was on the board of the CBOT also at the time of the merger.
