Janine M. Guillot became Chief Operating Investment Officer for the California Public Employees’ Retirement System on April 19, 2010. She oversees the implementation of strategies for CalPERS' real estate, alternative investment and public market portfolios, which includes the development of portfolio trade and management systems. She is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Prior to joining CalPERS, Guillot was the managing director and chief operating officer (COO) for Barclays Global Investors' (BGI) $450 billion Global Fixed Income business. She has also previously served as the global head of product infrastructure at BGI and as COO of BGI Europe. She was responsible for BGI Europe’s support functions, including operations, legal, risk, compliance, project Management, finance, human resources, facilities and communications. Guillot joined BGI in 2002 as chief financial officer and director of strategy for the European business. She has also led BGI’s Global Change Management function.
Before Barclays, she held accounting and executive positions with Ernst & Young and Bank of America in San Francisco. Throughout her 12 years at Bank of America, Guillot served various positions, including chief planning & administrative officer for the consumer business and chief financial officer for the wealth management, middle-market banking, and commercial real estate groups. She was also the director of brand development and management and launched a new brand for Bank of America as well as an internet-based consumer-lending venture for the bank.
She received her undergraduate degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas in 1985.
