Thomas W. Sexton, III is a derivatives regulator based in Chicago. He is the president and CEO of the National Futures Association (NFA).

He was promoted to the position after having served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of the NFA. [1]

Sexton rose to president and CEO of the association effective March 1, 2017, replacing Dan Roth, who retired.[2][3] [4]

Sexton is a member of the CFTC Global Markets Advisory Committee.


Sexton joined the NFA in July of 1991 as an attorney, and subsequently was promoted to senior attorney in 1996, assistant general counsel in 1998 and associate general counsel in 2000, and to general counsel and secretary in 2001.

Before joining the NFA, He served for three years as an associate in the law office of Ogden, Murphy & Wallace in Seattle.


Sexton holds a law degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School, an MBA degree from Loyola University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from the University of Notre Dame.[5]
