Carol Kennedy is chief branding officer and vice president of corporate communications at Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), where she is responsible for the development and direction of CBOE’s brand strategy and management.
Kennedy also develops and directs strategic communications at CBOE. In that capacity, she oversees the company’s traditional and social media and public relations areas and plays a lead role in investor and employee communications.
Kennedy began her career at CBOE as Manager of Editorial Services in 1993. She was promoted to Media Director in 1996, to Managing Director of Corporate Communications in 1997 and to Vice President of Corporate Communications in 1998.
She was named Chief Branding Officer in 2012  and, subsequently led the creation and rollout of CBOE’s new corporate brand identity. She also established brand identities for the CBOE Command trading technology and CBOE’s VIX and SPX product lines.
Kennedy represents CBOE at the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE), the trade association for 52 of the world’s major stock, futures and options exchanges. She has chaired WFE’s Communications Task Force since 2010.
She is a recipient of the “Silver Quill Award for Excellence” from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).
Kennedy received her BA in creative writing from Northwestern University.
