John Ryan is the technology architecture officer of International Securities Exchange (ISE), LLC.[1]

In 2001, the ISE decided to enhance its existing surveillance system, which was originally an outsourced solution that did not meet performance requirements from either a time-to-market or cost perspective. After surveying the choices, the ISE decided to build one in house using the Microsoft .NET Framework. The exchange originally outsourced the surveillance system, but John Ryan and Tom Reina, ISE's head of software development, determined that they needed to redesign it and build it themselves.[2]

Ryan joined ISE in 2001 and has 20+ years of systems development experience. Before joining the ISE, Ryan was vice president of engineering at ShadowTV.com. His prior experience also includes serving as a consultant to Citigroup where he was lead architect of a global, electronic banking platform.

Ryan is a graduate of DeVry Institute of Technology.
